What is Obstacle Innovation?
Obstacle innovation allows us to test out new obstacles that could potentially make their way to our regular 15k Tough Mudder course. TMHQ is always innovating, so you never know if one of these new obstacle innovations will pop up on-course until they do. Will you be the first to try it?
The New Obstacle Innovations at World’s Toughest Mudder 2022…
Drum roll please…
Just Chute Me
Climb up the front of Mudderhorn. A freefall-style slide gets you down from the back of the obstacle and into a pool of water
Chill Pickle
On this obstacle, participants climb up an angled ladder and then slide down the slide into an ice pit. After the slide, there’s an inflatable baffle to duck under, after which participants must climb up a slip wall, then climb down an angled ladder
Dingleberries
Using hands only, get across a traverse cargo net without touching the water pit below
Feet Spin
An above-ground swinging traverse consisting of spinning foot discs, overhead pipes, and rings. Participants must swing across each dangling object to reach the exit platform
Double Rainbow
Double Rainbow is Well Swung’s older brother obstacle. Participants jump from the edge of a water pit onto two consecutive swing arms with the objective of hitting a hanging bell
Dirty Holes
A darkened, restricted crawl through narrow tunnels
Dublin Walls
An 8 ft climb over the top
Underwater Tunnels
A series of forced submersions under four consecutive floating impediments in an open body of water
Statue of Liberty
For this obstacle, participants light a torch and have to get through a body of water with the flaming torch still lit
Son of a Ditch
A deep V-shaped mud pit, with an exposed entrance wall and slick, lined exit wall with ropes
Chunky Monkey
An angled monkey-bar climb over a water pit, utilizing hanging tires and banana-shaped climbing grips on the ascent, with monkey bars on the descent
Coach’s Corner
An enclosed two-chamber structure that must be navigated through. The main chamber is filled with smoke and contains a series of impediments including inflatable walls, bungee cords, and electrical wires. The lower chamber consists of a smoke-filled crawl space, filled with a range of obstacles and blockers to prevent forward progress. The chambers may alternately open and close throughout the event
Jingle Jingle
A shallow mud pit with a series of hidden holes under the surface of the water. Participant must carry a slick water toy through the obstacle
Tea Bagged
Traverse across a 30 ft pool of water by climbing along the underside of a suspended strap with a series of suspended buoys as obstructions
Satan’s Mustache
Heavy mesh nets pinned tightly over the ground with ratchet straps and heavy liners
Breath Eater
A shallow water pit with chain link fence panels over the surface of the water; alternating fence panels are blacked out. Saturated mop heads hang throughout the obstacle onto participants’ faces
High on Grass
A climb over a 25’ high structure of stacked hay bales
